Hi, my name is Ashlea and I am a fiber addict. If this sounds like a meeting you’d like to join, pull up a seat! You’re in great company.
As a relatively new spinner, I started Heart Hook Homespun as a way to help other new spinners navigate the craft. From choosing different kinds of fiber and spinning tools, to learning how to spin more consistent yarn, how to set yarn, and general tips for perfecting the craft. I learned to spin during a 6-week spinning course through my local Fiber Arts Guild, and I haven’t been able to stop the wheel since. I am now the proud owner of several spinning wheels, multiple drop spindles, and a plethora of various types of fiber.
On my main blog, Heart Hook Home, I share crochet tutorials, free crochet patterns, and plenty of wearables, along with recipes, travel tips, some knitting, and heart health. My oldest son has a rare heart defect, Truncus Arteriosus, that has required three open heart surgeries, multiple hospitalizations and procedures, with the surety of more to come as he grows. Read more about his story here.
Thank you for stopping by! Should you wish to contact me, you may do so via this form or on my Facebook page or the Heart Hook Homespun Spinners group on Facebook.

Thank you so much for creating this Blog and sharing your addiction. Spinning has intrigued me for years and I’ve often thought about trying it but I had no idea where to begin. You have now provided me with everything I need to know and I am so grateful! We live, quite literally, in the middle of nowhere so I plan to have my husband make me whatever he can (he’s a retired carpenter) and I’ll get the rest of my supplies online. This will be my winter project and I can’t wait to get started. Thanks again, Ashlea!
